Have a Holly, Jolly Time at the Folly Beach Christmas Parade
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down… Center Street? You better believe it! The whole family is in for a jolly good time when ol’ St. Nick (or “Sandy” Claus as he’s known around here) makes his way to Folly Beach.
A beloved tradition, the Folly Beach Christmas Parade is held the second Saturday in December each year. Beginning at Second Street and West Ashley Avenue, the parade makes its way to Center Street, spreading Christmas cheer to all who are near.
Little ones will love having candy and other prizes handed to them from floats as they pass by, and everyone will enjoy watching the colorful displays celebrating this most wonderful time of the year.
If you’re feeling particularly festive this year, why not enter your own float into the parade? Anyone can enter (as long as you register ahead of time), and the sky is basically the limit when it comes to float design.
Besides, the top floats are awarded prizes. Now that’s good incentive to deck, well, something out in boughs of holly. Memorable floats from parades past include everything from golf carts to fire trucks.
Immediately following the parade, head over the Folly River Park to do a little holiday shopping at the Arts & Crafts Show. Still looking for the perfect present for someone? Look no more — you’ll find a plethora of one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted items from local artisans at the post-parade holiday market.
Let hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows warm you up while you wait to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus, along with our mayor. You’ll have plenty of entertainment along the way too, thanks to live local music.
Add this event to your must-not-miss calendar and come have a holly, Folly Christmas!
