Starbucks just announced that starting today wearing masks will be optional for fully vaccinated customers. Keep in mind that this statement will also depend on local regulations. Starbucks joins Trader Joe's and Walmart who also dropped their mask mandates for fully vaccinated shoppers following the CDC guidelines. Meanwhile, CVS, Walgreens and Macy's are currently reviewing their requirements for facial coverings.
The CDC said last week that fully vaccinated people don't have to wear masks or practice social distancing indoor or outdoors except for when in healthcare settings, on public transportation, or in areas where governments require masks. The CDC also said that people will still have to follow workplace and local businesses' mask guidance. Here's a full list of stores that have either lifted or are reviewing their mask policies:
CVS
CVS is currently re-evaluating its in-store policy, which requires customers and employees to wear masks, based on the latest CDC guidance.
Macy's
Macy's is also reviewing its mask policy.
Walgreens
Walgreens is reviewing the updated CDC guidance.
Home Depot
Home Depot will keep their policies mandating shoppers and employees wear masks.
Kroger Family of Companies
Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Ralphs, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano's and others will continue to require everyone in its stores to wear masks. In addition, the stores will continue to encourage everyone to practice social distancing and frequent hand washing.
Trader Joe's
Trader Joe's dropped the mask mandate for fully vaccinated shoppers.
Starbucks
Masks will be optional for customers at Starbucks who are fully vaccinated.
Walmart
Vaccinated customers and members can shop without a mask at Walmart stores. However, this only applies where local ordinances don't require masks in stores. Fully vaccinated workers also won't have to wear a mask at work starting tomorrow.
