The happiest people overall are ... women who aren't married and don't have kids.
That's according to a new study by Paul Dolan, a professor of behavioral science at the London School of Economics. Mr. Dolan is a prominent expert in happiness and a best-selling author, who does original research putting it into the measurement of happiness and its causes and consequences,.
Single women with no children also live longer than married mothers and are healthier as well. These women take less risks, earn more money at work, and live a little longer. The reason has to do with the social pressure to get married and have kids, and according to this data, that's NOT what makes women the happiest.
However, that does help men. Married men are happier and live longer than single men.
