What Are We Doing Less Of, and More Of, on the Beach?

What are we doing more, and less of, on the beach? Less smoking and having more sex.

At least that's the case on beaches in New Jersey where the annual clean-up of the GardenState’s coastline by Clean Ocean Action recovered 454,365 items. About 22,000 cigarette butts were picked up, less than a quarter of those found the previous year. On the other side, the 565 condoms located represented an increase of 56 percent.

The bad news is 82 percent of the trash collected was plastic, which can be harmful or fatal to marine life.
