As a Parent, Will You Take This Pledge?

Would you take the Wait Until 8th pledge?   It encourages parents to delay giving your child a smartphone until at least 8th grade.  The hope is to decrease the pressure felt by both kids and parents over your kids having a smartphone.      Smartphones have changed  childhood for children with playing outdoors, spending time in person with friends, or reading books is happening a lot less.  Instead, it's been replaced with hours of snap chatting, instagramming, and catching up on You Tube.

If you've given your child a smartphone because you feel you need to be able to contact them, this organization suggests instead to give your son or daughter a basic phone that just calls and texts or has a two-way calling watch.
