Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Team Up With Hulu For New Horror Series

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are working on an exciting new project together.

The husband and wife duo are teaming up with Hulu to produce a new horror series for the streaming platform. The series will be based on the best-selling novel Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. According to Deadline, Ripa and Consuelos' Milojo Productions and ABC Signature acquired the rights to develop the fantasy-horror novel for television in a "competitive situation."

Mexican Gothic follows glamorous socialite Noemí Taboada on a journey to the Mexican countryside to rescue her cousin, who has recently married into a reclusive mining family. Her cousin has claimed that her new husband is poisoning her and that she's been seeing ghosts in the family's beautiful old mansion. Once Noemí arrives at High Place, she begins to unearth stories of violence and madness.

The news of Ripa and Consuelos' acquisition broke on Tuesday (August 11), however, Ripa shared an adoring post about the novel on Instagram a week earlier. "Sublime horror for your summer reading," she wrote alongside a photo of Mexican Gothic's cover. "So good I bought the hard copy and the download to read in the dark."

“We feel like we hit the literary jackpot, and cannot wait to bring Silvia’s gorgeous writing to life, together with Hulu,” Ripa told Deadline. Moreno-Garcia added that she's "excited to see the novel come to life and to meet the talented, diverse crew and cast members that will take us on this journey."
