What Is South Carolina's Most Important Invention?

Researchers at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas have put together a list of each state's best invention - the one that's made the biggest impact on the world.     According to their findings, South Carolina most important is the Military Sub - The Hunley, which was used in the Charleston Harbor during the Civil War.

Among some of the more unusual invention's noted:

  •          Nebraska - Ski Lift
  •          North Dakota - Cream of Wheat
  •          Wyoming - the Shovel Handle

For the states that border South Carolina:

  •          North Carolina - Airplane
  •          Georgia - Cotton Gin
  •          Tennessee - Supermarket
