1.) What are activities that all reportedly have a positive impact on your mental health and well being? How about all forms of textile crafting such as sewing, weaving, crocheting and knitting. In an online survey of more 3,545 knitters, the study found a significant relationship between the frequency of knitting and respondents’ perceived mood and feelings. Frequent knitters (those who knitted more than 3 times a week) were calmer, happier, less sad, less anxious, and more confident.
2.) Star Wars creator George Lucas has chosen the city that will be the location of a planned museum of his art and movie memorabilia. It’s Chicago. A spokesman for Windy City’s mayor says the Lucas Cultural Arts Museum will be built in the Windy City. The Chicago Sun-Times describes the museum as a $1 billion investment, and Chicago Business says, quoting a task force set up by Emanuel to study the project, it “would generate between $2 billion and $2.5 billion of additional tourist spending and significant tax revenue over ten years.”
3.) If you were waiting for the day your Amazon delivery was zoomed to your house by a delivery drone, it’s going to be a long, long wait. The FAA is cracking down on commercial usage of drones by banning the delivery of packages using unmanned aerial devices. In the “Notice of Interpretation with Request for Comment”, the FAA defined “delivering packages to people for a fee” as non-hobby, non-recreational drone activity. Amazon had a potential loophole, as their shipping is free for Amazon Prime subscribers and therefore is not a fee. The FAA foresaw this and wrote specific language in the regulation, tightening the loophole.
