1.)     One student is dead this morning following the latest school shooting, this one in Oregon.     According to the group Everytown for Gun Safety, which advocates for policies it believes limit gun violence, it’s the 74th instance of shots being fired on school grounds or in school buildings since the Newtown elementary school shooting in late-2012.  There have been at least 37 shootings on school grounds this year.  All told, there has been nearly one shooting per week in the year and a half since Newtown.

2.)     Do you have a relationship type?   Match.com thinks if you do, you’ll want to stick with that type.    So they’ve introduced a new feature allowing you to upload a photo of your ex.    They’ll use facial recognition to match you up with a look-a-like.   A Match.com spokesperson explained "people have a type and it's not necessarily about height or race or hair color, but a lot of it is about face shape."
The one catch is the service is only available with Premium memberships, which also includes your own professional matchmaker, who coaches you, flies out to meet you, and goes on pre-dates with your potential matches.    But, a six month package costs $5,000.

3.)     After making ketchup, Heinz ends up with a lot of extra tomato parts.  So their challenge is what to do with all those parts.   The answer is to turn all those tomato skins, seeds, and stems into auto parts.   Ford has teamed up with Heinz with a goal to "develop a strong, lightweight material that meets their vehicle requirements, while at the same time reducing our overall environmental impact."    Heinz partnered with Coke in a similar way to put ketchup in bottles made in part with the residue of sugar cane.
