What a difference a year makes. The 2013 Charleston First Day Festival could not have asked for better weather compared to 2012, when a heavy downpour fell just before the event, leaving vendors and festival goers seeking shelter.
This year's event welcomed thousands of students and their families. First Day Festival is a community event that celebrates education and encourages parents to attend school with their kids on the first day of class.
The event is held each year in August. Students and families received school supplies, learned about student support services what's ahead for the new school year. First Day Festival promotes community education.
The 11th Annual First Day Festival was held at Liberty Square at the SC Aquarium and the Charleston Maritime Center.
