From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

Power has been going in and out throughout the lowcountry due to this winter weather. Some areas have affected 300 or more people while others have affected less than 20.

If your power goes out, it might take up to 3 hours or more to be turned back on, so plan accordingly.

SCE&G says they are taking calls of reported power outage and have trucks on stand-by to fix any outages. If you want to report an outage, call 1-888-333-4465.

Officials at SCE&G remind everyone to stay away from downed power lines. Even if the power might be out, always assume the line is hot. Ice and tree limbs can bring down power lines.

Also, use extreme caution when operating and utilizing supplemental heaters and generators. It can be tempting to use a stove or grill to put heat in your residence if you heater is out, but those must ever be used due to fire risks and gases. Take care when using generators and planning to check on them to make sure there are no gas leaks.
