From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

The City of Georgetown is asking residents of its water system to boil their water for one full minute before drinking or cooking with it.

According to a letter posted on the City's website, a major line break in the distribution system caused a loss of pressure and service to many customers of the City of Georgetown.  This break may have affected the entire water system of the City.

Officials say there is no confirmed contamination of the system but because of the loss of pressure, contamination could exist.  Because of that risk, the City is asking its customer to boil their water for one minute until otherwise notified by the City.

Any questions, contact the City of Georgetown Water Utilities Department at 843-545-4500.
