Berkeley Electric Cooperative line crews are working around the clock to restore power to thousands of customers in Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston Counties. BEC officials has 23, 460 members without power early Thursday morning. Thursday night, the number of members without power fell to 22, 600.

The slight increase was due to 13, 072 customers reporting power outages throughout the day Thursday. Officials tell News 2 crews actually restored power to 14, 104 members for a total of 50,061 outages since the storm began Wednesday.

Crews have worked around the clock since 7 am Wednesday and will continue to work throughout the night. Outages are expected to continue into the weekend.
